Guanacaste is a very big tree. It’s not uncommon to see trees over 2 meters in diameter. This makes it a very popular species for live edge projects such as tables and bars.The color is medium brown with darker streaks and sometimes wild figuring. Guanacaste is also used for veneer, fine furniture, decorative carpentry, etc.Common names: Guanacaste, Parota.

Ziricote
Ziricote is truly a unique species. It is one of the most exotic and beautiful woods in the world. Color ranges from medium to dark brown with dark bands and rings that sometimes are referred as landscape grain figure. Tzalam
Tzalam has variegated heartwood consisting of medium and light brown colorations with sporadic hues ranging between orange, amber and red. Tzalam is a popular choice on the Caribbean coast for pool loungers and other exterior furniture due to its ability to stand up to the elements while maintaining a nice visual appeal.Common names: Tzalam, Tsalam , Tzukté.

Chechen
Chechen can be visually stunning with green, red, orange and gold hues (and brown & black lines) adorning its luxurious medium-brown bases, and occasional figuring which can range from subtle to quite dramatic. The wood has become popular with veneer manufacturers, furniture craftsmen and guitar luthiers, as it is a very durable, easy-to-work and -finish wood that is moderately priced for an exotic import.Common names: Chechen, Boxcheché, Chechem, Black Poisonwood.

Katalox
Katalox is one of the stiffest and strongest woods available worldwide. It is dark reddish brown or purple to nearly black. It is known to be very durable, making it ideal for a variety of applications , although it can be very difficult difficult to re-saw (density) and glue, due to its typically high natural oil content. Katalox’s stability and handsome appearance make it popular for fine furniture, guitars, flooring and turning.Common names: Katalox, Corazón Azul, Palo Azul.

Redheart
Characterized by a reddish base color ranging from dull to bright pink, pinkish-red or red with streaks and highlights diverse in color, from darker red tones, to yellows, oranges and even occasional purples. Commonly used in turning, veneer, fine furniture, it is starting to appear more frequently in custom electric guitar building (necks, fretboards, etc.), also. Exposure to direct sunlight will cause the wood to fade and take on a reddish-brown hue. However, this process can be slowed by utilizing UV protectant and avoiding direct sunlight.Common names:Redheart, Chactecok, Chakte Kok.

Chacte Viga
